Annbjørg Bakken is a long-distance musher from Lillehammer who has found her place in Ålen, just up the hill from Protex. She lives there with her most important team: 16 four-legged training partners.
Her days are spent on the trail behind the house, in the dog yard or on the sofa after long sessions. When she is not training dogs, she works in the municipal respite care service for children. She is outdoors as much as she can, and plays a bit of handball when time allows.
In Finnmarksløpet 2023 she finished fifth in FL-1200, with a team she took over after experienced musher Steinar Kristensen was injured. She has also raced the 600-kilometre distance of Finnmarksløpet and Femundløpet, and is a member of Femund trekkhundklubb.
Long races in extreme cold put demands on the gear. To stay warm, Annbjørg relies on Femundlabben with Mittet foot bags, the Nesna sweater, Ragnarok shell trousers and foot and hand warmers on the coldest days.
